Citrix Systems Administrator Remote information

What are some common challenges faced by remote Citrix systems administrators, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Citrix Systems Administrators often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting user connectivity issues without physical access to endpoints, managing system updates across distributed environments, and maintaining robust security protocols. Effective communication with end-users and other IT teams is crucial, as is leveraging remote management tools and thorough documentation. Proactively monitoring system performance and staying current with Citrix best practices can help prevent issues and streamline support for remote users.

How to become a remote Citrix systems administrator?

If you want to become a remote Citrix Systems administrator, you should pursue a bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field. Employers prefer candidates with a background in Citrix Systems and an understanding of network concepts and operating systems. You also need excellent technical skills and advanced computer proficiency. Having prior experience in management or leadership positions can be beneficial. You can also obtain Citrix certification to demonstrate your knowledge and improve your software skills. Additional qualifications when working from home include reliable internet, the ability to meet deadlines, updated computer equipment, and independent motivation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Citrix systems administrator?

To thrive as a Citrix Systems Administrator, you need strong expertise in Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, Windows Server administration, and a solid understanding of networking, typically backed by relevant IT certifications such as Citrix Certified Associate (CCA-V) or Microsoft certifications. Familiarity with Citrix Studio, Director, StoreFront, and remote monitoring tools is essential for managing virtual environments remotely. Excellent problem-solving skills, clear communication, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for supporting users and collaborating with distributed teams. These competencies ensure secure, efficient delivery of virtual applications and desktops, which is vital for organizational productivity and remote workforce support.

What does a Citrix systems administrator do when working remotely?

A Citrix Systems Administrator working remotely is responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Citrix environments, such as XenApp, XenDesktop, and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops. Their duties include installing and upgrading Citrix software, monitoring system performance, applying security patches, and supporting users who access applications and desktops through Citrix. Remote administrators use secure connections to access company servers, resolve technical issues, and ensure high availability and performance of virtualized applications. They also collaborate with IT teams to implement best practices and optimize the Citrix infrastructure.

About Nearmap

Property intelligence is reshaping how the world understands the built environment, and Nearmap is driving that. We put powerful aerial imagery, AI-driven analytics, and geospatial tools into the hands of the people who plan, build, insure, and govern the places we all live and work. Our technology turns property uncertainty into decisive action, and our culture brings out the best in the people who build it.
We move fast, we care about craft, and we're proud of what we're building. If you're energized by turning hard problems into real-world impact, we'd love to meet you.

Job Description

About the Role

Ourย Revenue Systemย Administratorย will joinย a global teamย responsible for the day-to-day configuration, maintenance, and support ofย Nearmap'sย core revenue tech stackย -ย includingย Salesforce,ย Gong,ย Conga CPQ, NetSuite.ย Based out of our growing Utah hub,ย you'llย share ownership of key workstreams with fellow administrators across regions, handling configuration, troubleshooting, and smaller-to-mid-sized build items independently, while partnering with Solution Architects and the Poland-based engineering team on larger initiatives.ย You'llย coordinate handoffs with fellowย adminsย so nothing falls through the cracks between shifts or regions. This is a great fit for someone with solid, hands-on Salesforce administration experience who wants to work across a real revenueย stackย building flows, managing users, configuring CPQ, and owning integrations.ย You'llย beย part of a supportive, distributed team rather than flying solo.ย

**Role Location:ย While we are open to remote candidates within the continental United States, we have a strong preference for candidates based within commuting distance to our Lehi, UT office.
Key Responsibilities

Salesforceย &ย Revenue Systemsย Administrationย

  • Handle day-to-day Salesforceย andย Revenue Systemsย administration alongside the global admin team: user setup, roles, profiles, permissionย sets, security settings, and license management.ย
  • Build andย maintainย declarative automation (Flows, validation rules, approval processes) in coordination with fellow admins, following shared conventions to support Sales, Finance, and Product workflows.ย
  • Configure andย maintainย assigned areas of Conga CPQ - product bundles, pricing rules, quote templates, andย approvalย workflows - as part of a workstream split with other CPQ admins.ย
  • Take part in regular, team-wide system audits toย identifyย unused fields, redundant automation, and data quality issues, and help remediate collaboratively.ย

Systems Integration & Automationย

  • Work alongside admins in other regions toย maintainย and troubleshoot integrations between Salesforce, NetSuite, andย Workato, ensuring data flows cleanly across the revenue stack.ย
  • Monitor scheduled jobs, integration errors, and sync failures during your coverage window, resolving issues where possible andย handingย off clearly to the next region or escalating to engineering when needed.ย

Support & Enablementย

  • Act as one of several points of contact for end-user support tickets related to Salesforce, and connected systems,ย workingย a shared queue with the rest of the admin team.ย
  • Train and support Sales, Finance, and Product users on system functionality, new features, and best practices, in coordination with teammates covering other regions.ย
  • Partner with Business Analysts to translate requirements into working configuration, and with the Poland engineering team on more complex build items.ย
  • Support UAT cycles by executing test scripts, logging defects, and validating fixes prior to release, alongside fellow admins.ย

Documentation & Governanceย

  • Maintain up-to-date system documentation: data flow diagrams, field/automation inventories, andย integrationย dependency maps, so knowledge stays accessible across the global team.ย
  • Contribute to project and ticket tooling hygiene (Jira, Confluence, or equivalent) so system status and known issues are always current for whoever picks up next.ย
  • Follow shared change management practices for configuration changes and releases, ensuring changes are tested, documented, and communicated across the team.ย
  • Contribute to a culture of clean, well-governed systems - reducing technical debt and rework over time - as part of a collective standard the whole admin team upholds.ย
Qualifications

Experience

  • Required: Salesforce Administrator (ADM 201) certification, ORย 3+ years of hands-on Salesforce administration experience.ย
  • 2+ years of experience in a SaaS or B2B environment preferred, with some exposure to revenue systems (CRM, CPQ, ERP).ย
  • Working familiarity with a CPQ platform (Conga CPQ orย comparable) -ย comfortable configuring bundles, pricing rules, or templates with some guidance.ย
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system is a plus.ย
  • Exposure to integration/automation platforms such asย Workato, MuleSoft, or similar is a plus.ย
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred but notย required.ย
  • Gearset or similar DevOps/release management tool experience is a plus.ย

Skills

  • Solid command of declarative Salesforce tools: Flow, validation rules, approval processes, permission sets, and reporting/dashboards.ย
  • Working understanding of theย salesย process and how CPQ, CRM, ERP, and Marketing automationย systems connect.ย
  • Comfortable troubleshooting routine integration and data issues independently, escalating more complex problems as needed.ย
  • Clear, confidentย communicatorย able to support non-technical business users and coordinate with technical partners (architects, engineers).ย
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ways of working and standard PM tooling (Jira, Confluence, or similar) is a plus.ย
  • Strong written communication skills, important for handoffs and coordination with a distributed admin team across time zones.ย
