Chief Technology Infrastructure & Product Engineering Officer

Location US/UK

AXA XL’s Chief Technology Infrastructure & Product Engineering Officer is a key senior executive, leadership team role in the Technology & AI function, accountable for the organization’s end-to-end technology delivery and operational performance, ensuring the enterprise builds, runs, and continuously improves modern technology products and services. This role is responsible for ensuring the organization builds and runs modern, secure, scalable technology platforms and digital products that enable business growth, customer experience improvement, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Leading the full technology lifecycle including product engineering, platforms, cloud, architecture, service management, IT operations, service desk and workplace technology, ensuring services are secure, resilient, cost-effective, and designed around customer and colleague experience.

The role reports to AXA XL’s Chief Technology & AI Officer.

What you’ll be doing

Technology & Engineering Strategy

  • Define and execute a multi-year technology and engineering strategy aligned to enterprise business priorities.
  • Lead the evolution toward modern digital architecture, cloud-native platforms, and API-led ecosystems.
  • Ensure technology investment decisions are outcome-led and measurable.

Product Engineering Leadership

  • Lead the product engineering function across the enterprise, ensuring high-performing product teams deliver value at pace.
  • Drive product engineering disciplines including:
    • agile delivery and product operating models
    • engineering standards and reusable components
    • scalable delivery patterns and platform thinking with security/AI/privacy by design
  • Partner with leadership to ensure technology execution supports product vision and roadmap.

Technology Delivery

  • Lead the delivery of major transformation programs (core modernization, platform build, digital journeys, embedded AI.
  • Ensure robust program governance, delivery confidence, and transparent executive reporting.
  • Drive delivery consistency across all technology portfolios.

Enterprise Platforms, Cloud & DevOps

  • Build enterprise-grade platform capabilities (cloud, integration, data, identity, observability).
  • Own DevOps, CI/CD, automation, SRE and embedded AI capabilities to ensure resilient and scalable production operations.
  • Reduce time-to-market while improving quality, stability, and performance.

Technology Operations & Service Management

  • Own the full IT Service Management (ITSM) operating model including:
    • Service Desk and end-user support
    • Incident, problem, change and release management
    • Major incident management and crisis response
    • Service request and fulfilment automation
    • Knowledge management and self-service enablement
  • Ensure operational service performance meets defined SLAs/XLAs.
  • Drive improved colleague experience through modern service management and tooling.

Service Resilience, Reliability & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure availability, performance and resilience of critical services through SRE practices.
  • Drive proactive monitoring, observability, capacity management and automated remediation.
  • Improve incident reduction, root cause resolution, and service stability over time.


Technology Risk, Security & Compliance Partnership

  • Partner closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Risk leadership and embed secure and privacy by-design engineering
  • Co-operate with Chief Enterprise Architect and ensure compliance with Enterprise Architecture principles.
  • Ensure technology complies with regulatory and audit expectations.
  • Own technology controls including SDLC governance, access controls, data security alignment, and resilience.
  • Modernize build and service with AI capabilities.


AI and Automation in Engineering

  • Embed AI in software engineering (AI coding assistants, testing automation, intelligent monitoring).
  • Ensure AI adoption improves productivity while maintaining robust governance and engineering quality.
  • Embed responsible AI and model governance practices where AI is deployed in products.


Financial Accountability & Investment Governance

  • Own the technology engineering budget, including CapEx/OpEx balance.
  • Drive vendor strategy, sourcing optimization, and cost transparency.
  • Ensure technology spend delivers measurable ROI and aligns to enterprise value.

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $275,000 to $300,000 USD.
