We are seeking a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with the executive presence, strategic mindset, and modern security experience to help lead clients through today’s most complex cybersecurity, risk, and compliance challenges.

SUMMARY
Hartman Executive Advisors is seeking an experienced Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead holistic Information Technology Security Programs across Hartman's non-profit & association client portfolios that address the full scope of cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance domains. The program includes cybersecurity, risk, and compliance oversight, strategy, governance, and leadership for clients across non-profit and association industries. This is a senior-level, client-facing role responsible for advising executive leadership, shaping cybersecurity, risk, and compliance programs, and driving measurable program improvements and outcomes.

The CISO oversees program development, implementation, and oversight, the associated tactical projects such as risk assessments, regulatory compliance, incident readiness, and security and risk roadmap execution. Working in partnership with technology and security teams, this role serves as a trusted executive guiding organizations in navigating evolving threats, technologies, and regulatory pressures.

As a Hartman CISO, you will:

  • Lead cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance strategy across multiple client organizations
  • Engage directly with CEOs, CFOs, COOs, CIOs, and boards
  • Build modern, resilient security programs aligned to business outcomes
  • Translate evolving threats into clear, actionable roadmaps
  • Help clients navigate cloud, identity, regulatory, and AI-driven risk
  • Serve as a trusted, independent advisor

QUALIFICATIONS

  • +7 years of progressively more responsible cyber security leadership roles preferably within a non-profit and association environments
  • Experience functioning as a CISO, vCISO, or senior cybersecurity leader supporting multiple business environments
  • Broad knowledge of security frameworks, regulatory requirements, compliance programs, and industry best practices
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business-level risk and executive decision support
  • Experience with cloud security, identity, incident response, third-party risk, and modern cybersecurity architectures
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, including experience briefing boards and C-suite leaders
  • Ability to effectively interact with outside vendors and achieve the maximum benefit
  • Process-focused mindset in which to address business problems
  • Vigilant accountability in relation to deadlines and deliverables
  • Proven ability to gather, understand, document, and communicate business requirements and to translate these into systems specifications/project deliverables
  • Excellent planning, organizing, budgeting, verbal, writing, executive presentation, and meeting management skills
  • Ability to interact effectively across organization/ diverse cultures, and communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively
  • Initiative to identify and communicate opportunities to contribute additional value to existing and prospective clients
  • Ability to align/ focus resources across the organization in achieving short and long-term goals

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM) preferred
