Job Summary:

Saalex is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to support network infrastructure, video transport systems, and field test operations at NSWC Corona. The selected candidate will independently perform complex technical assignments supporting the design, deployment, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of network systems. This position requires hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment, IP camera systems, video transport technologies, and DoD cybersecurity compliance requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Network Operations & Design: Assist in the design, deployment, and optimization of network infrastructure. Configure and manage routing and switching equipment, primarily Cisco routers and switches.
  • Troubleshooting: Proactively identify, isolate, and resolve complex network connectivity, routing, switching, and communications issues in both garrison and field environments.
  • Camera System Integration: Install, configure, and troubleshoot IP cameras and associated video streaming network infrastructure. Support H.264 and H.265 video transport technologies.
  • Security Compliance: Ensure network devices and configurations adhere to DISA STIG requirements and Department of Defense security mandates.
  • Field Support: Travel to test ranges to install equipment, conduct site surveys, and provide hands-on technical support during testing and operations.
  • Provide technical guidance, documentation support, and coordination with engineers, technicians, and government stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

Required:

  • Demonstrated networking expertise with routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, and Cisco infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of IP camera systems, video transport, and H.264/H.265 encoding and decoding protocols.
  • Experience implementing and auditing DISA STIG requirements and maintaining secure network boundaries.
  • Understanding of network packets, firewalls, ACLs, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently resolve complex network and hardware issues.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness and physical ability to travel to and work at field ranges as required.
  • AA/AS degree in Information Technology, Networking, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent technical training. Minimum of 8 years of relevant network engineering technician experience. In lieu of education, 10 years of directly related experience may be substituted.

  • CCNA or higher certification.
  • CompTIA Security+.
  • Navy or DoD test and evaluation experience.
  • Network monitoring and video distribution experience.

Education:

  • AA/AS degree in Information Technology, Networking, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent technical training. Minimum of 8 years of relevant network engineering technician experience. In lieu of education, 10 years of directly related experience may be substituted.

Security Clearance:

  • Active Secret Clearance preferred. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship required.
