Overview

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

With a track record of global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy and COVID-19 vaccines, Fred Hutch has earned a reputation as one of the world's leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers. Responsibilities
  • Partner with senior leaders to develop and execute workforce and talent strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Lead and support change management initiatives, including restructuring, growth, and transformation efforts.
  • Drive employee engagement and retention strategies across assigned client groups.
  • Utilize HR data and insights (e.g., turnover, engagement, workforce trends) to inform recommendations and decision-making.
  • Manage and lead in the following activities:
    • Resolve complex employee relations issues, ensuring consistent application and understanding of organizational policies and practices.
    • Provide guidance and tailored solutions to meet the needs of client population.
    • Lead training, facilitate sensitive conversations, and recommend solutions to enhance the employee experience.
    • Partner with leadership on organizational design efforts; advise on change implications and people impacts.
    • Lead a variety of internal HR projects and client initiatives.
  • Operates with a high degree of autonomy, setting priorities in alignment with organizational goals
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of HR Business Partners, including hiring, performance management, and professional development.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct people leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience across multiple HR disciplines, with strong knowledge of applicable labor and employment laws.
  • Proven ability to influence and drive outcomes without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and operate effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with complex employee relations investigations.
  • Experience advising senior leadership.
  • Experience in organizational change or transformation.
  • Experience in acute care, hospital, or academic medical center environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual communication platforms.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with Joint Commission, Magnet designation, or other healthcare accreditation standards.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday).
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).

The annual base salary range for this position is from $126,984 to $200,678, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
