Job description

Job Title: Assistant-Associate Professor Cybersecurity & CIS

Department: School of Business and Technology

Reports To: Executive Dean, School of Business and Technology

Job Type: This is a full time, exempt position.

General Description:

William Woods University is accepting applications for one full-time, tenure-track faculty position to teach cybersecurity (CSS), computer information systems (CIS), and related courses at the undergraduate level. The position begins in August 2026.

Teaching areas may include Enterprise Systems, Systems Analysis, hardware/software support, the impact of artificial intelligence, machine learning fundamentals, human-computer interaction, business analytics, Python, programming logic and syntax, emerging technologies, Introduction to Cybersecurity, Cybersecurity Law and Ethics, Cybersecurity and Internet Architecture, Cyber Attacks and Defenses, Encryption Techniques, Social Engineering, Critical Infrastructures, Cloud Security, Cloud Computing, Database Management Systems, Networking, Project Management, and other related courses.

The contracted teaching load is 12 hours per semester, with the opportunity to teach summer and intersession courses.

Full-time faculty are expected to participate in faculty and campus committees, attend faculty assemblies and school meetings, and conduct program and class assessments in accordance with standards established by the University and by external accrediting entities. Faculty are also expected to develop educational programs for presentation to the campus at large as part of the University LEAD program and to attend programs sponsored by other faculty within the University.

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach cybersecurity and computer information systems courses in the classroom and online modalities.

Assist students with academic advising.

Assist in internship supervision, including identifying opportunities, mentoring, and evaluating internships.

Prepare course syllabi for assigned courses that meet the needs of students and accreditation requirements.

Participate in the development of assessments and evaluation of courses and the program for continuing improvement.

Maintain professional development according to personal and professional needs.

? Assist in recruitment efforts for the program by participating in university recruitment events and communicating with interested students.

Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

A master's degree in cybersecurity, computer information systems, or a directly related discipline (with at least 18 graduate credit hours in cybersecurity or computer information systems) is required.

Ability to perform teaching, administrative, and clerical duties independently to fulfill the program's goals and objectives within the overall mission of the department, the school, and the university.

Teaching experience at a higher educational institution is preferred but not required.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time, 9-month position that begins in the fall of 2026 and continues into the following academic year. This position will be open until filled.
