Job description

Registered Nurse

The position is for a registered nurse in a special care nursery. The nurse will provide care for neonates, including those with special needs. The role requires floating to postpartum for baby care assignments. Every other weekend will be required for this position. The nurse will assist with circumcision and assess the site post-operation. They will provide car seat education and cord care. Discharge teaching to parents will also be part of the role. The nurse will ensure proper infant identification and follow isolation precautions. Administering IV antibiotics and managing low birth weight infants is expected. Metabolic screening and care for infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome will be included. The nurse will conduct newborn assessments and monitor for hypoglycemia. Phototherapy and maintaining thermoregulation in neonates are key responsibilities. Vaccine administration will also be a part of the job duties. The registered nurse should possess skills in starting and maintaining IVs. Teaching circumcision care to parents is also required. A collaborative approach with interdisciplinary support will be maintained. Essential equipment and procedures will be utilized on the unit.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent experience required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE Must-Have: Charge experience required Preceptor experience required Delivery room experience required
