Job description

Summit Home Care and Hospice is searching for an experienced and motivated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team. We're committed to providing comprehensive healthcare services in the comfort of our patients' homes to positively impact quality of life by redefining the delivery of care.
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):
  • Hours: Monday - Friday; Standard Business Hours

  • Starting Pay: $40.00+ per Visit & Hourly Rate for Training/Orientation

  • Coverage Location: New Albany, OH & Surrounding Areas (Including Pickerington, Pataskala & Reynoldsburg, OH)
  • Work Setting: On the Road for Patient Visits & Training at the Local Office or Remotely
  • Territory: ~30-Mile Radius (Mileage Reimbursed)

Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with patients on therapeutic exercises designed to help regain full mobility, strengthen their muscles, and improve coordination.

  • Administer various physical modalities, such as soft tissue massage, electrical muscle stimulation and ultrasounds, to help relieve pain, improve circulation and decrease swelling in the muscles.

  • Collaborate with other team personnel to achieve well-rounded care.

  • Develop and implement physical therapy programs that focus on rehabilitation.

  • Evaluate effects of therapy treatment and communicate patients' progress.

  • Observe and reassess a patient's progress so they can modify the plan of care as needed.

  • Share necessary information with the Physical Therapist (PT) if/when adjustments need to be made.

  • Ensure that their patients receive personalized care.

  • Provide training for using assistive devices, such as crutches, canes, or prosthetics.

  • Record and document patient care services and progress.

  • Keep the Physical Therapist (PT) up to date on the patient's progress and ensure they know which aspects of the treatment are working or need adjustments to help determine the best path forward.

Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in Science or Applied Science from an Accredited Institution.

  • Active PTA License in the state of Ohio.

  • Valid driver's license & reliable transportation with automobile insurance.

  • Possess & maintain a current CPR certification.

  • Recent TB Test.

Qualifications:
  • Must be willing to travel to patients' homes to provide care.

  • Previous experience in physical therapy, rehabilitation, or other areas preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills.

  • Ability to build rapport with in-home patients, Physical Therapist (PT) and Assisted Living Facility (ALF)/Independent Living Facility (ILF staff), as necessary.

  • Work in a fast-paced, flexible work environment.

  • Must be able to handle the physical workload with kindness, compassion, and empathy.

  • Strong leadership qualities.
