Job description

Direct Counsel is representing an AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Group. The firm represents leading global clients across industries in data privacy, cybersecurity, and technology-related litigation and regulatory matters. The position is ideal for an attorney with a strong interest in cutting-edge legal issues and technology.
Key Responsibilities
  • Handle complex litigation and regulatory enforcement matters related to data privacy and cybersecurity.

  • Provide legal counseling on compliance with privacy laws including U.S., EU, and APEC regulations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on privacy risk assessments and data breach response.

  • Support clients in government investigations and privacy-related class action defense.

  • Stay current on emerging legal and technological issues impacting data protection.


Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • Active bar membership in California, D.C., or New York.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in privacy, cybersecurity, or related litigation.

  • Experience with government regulation, global privacy frameworks, and data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude or familiarity with how modern technologies function.

  • CIPP certification (Certified Information Privacy Professional) is a plus.
