Job description

Job Overview:
APTIM is seeking an experienced Certified Industrial Hygienist/Project Manager CIH Certified, to participate in a variety of health and safety compliance support tasks, such as injury and illness prevention, lockout/tagout, industrial hygiene, industrial/commercial safety, job hazard analysis, ergonomics, heat stress, confined space entry and various OSHA and EPA compliance activities. This role is ideal for a senior-level professional who combines deep technical industrial hygiene experts with strong project management, client leadership, and business development capabilities. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted client advisor, manage multidisciplinary projects from proposal through closeout, expand client relationships, contribute to growth of safety services in target markets, and provide technical leadership around health and safety services. This position can be located in several locations, such as California, Texas, Colorado, Tennessee, Baton Rouge LA, Florida, and others. Must live near one of our offices.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage industrial hygiene and H&S consulting projects for commercial, industrial, and retail client markets with full project-manager ownership: scope, schedule, budget, staffing, subcontractors, invoicing, and client communication.
  • Conduct and oversee technical IH work such as exposure assessments, air monitoring, risk assessments, hazard evaluations, control recommendations, and regulatory compliance support.
  • Function as a H&S auditor to evaluate client facilities for compliance with applicable OSHA and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of emerging regulatory issues, technical best practices, and industry trends affecting client operations.
  • Support APTIM's business development leadership with the ability to develop clients, write proposals, grow accounts, mentor junior staff, and review technical deliverables.
  • Support the pursuit and hiring of subject matter experts to bolster APTIM's bench strength and increase APTIM's competitive advantage.
  • Serve as a Supervisor to junior health and safety professionals.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) credential required
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health, safety, environmental science, public health or closely related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive industrial hygiene, EHS or consulting experience.
  • Strong experience in consulting, project delivery, client management and technical report preparation.
  • Deep technical knowledge with OSHA/CalOSHA or equivalent regulatory frameworks, exposure assessments, hazard recognition/control and workplace investigations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills required. Must have proficiency in Microsoft applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, SharePoint Online, etc. and the ability to learn other software applications.

Preferred Additional Credentials
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant professional certifications.
  • State or industry credentials related to asbestos, lead, mold, hazardous materials, or related specialties.
  • Training and experience supporting regulated environments, industrial operations, and multi-site portfolios.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $120K to $160K year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
