Firm Overview

A mid-sized, nationally recognized law firm with a growing international presence is expanding its Labor and Employment practice and seeking a junior associate for its Los Angeles office. The firm is in active growth mode and offers a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment with a strong emphasis on retention and professional development.

Position Summary

This role is focused on management-side employment litigation and provides associates with significant early responsibility. Attorneys in this position work on complex matters and gain direct exposure to litigation strategy, client interaction, and trial preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent employers in litigation involving discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, and restrictive covenant issues
  • Manage discovery processes and develop a discovery strategy
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda
  • Assist with depositions, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on case strategy
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties
  • Stay current on employment laws and regulatory developments

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar admission
  • Strong academic background
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to independently handle discovery responsibilities
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and detail-oriented

Compensation Structure

  • Base salary range: $205,000 – $240,000
  • Bonus eligibility with structured thresholds at 1920 and 2100 hours
