Position: Cath Lab / IR Technologist
Shift: Day Shift with On-Call Rotation
Location: City, State
We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab / Interventional Radiology Technologist for an exciting opportunity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a Level 1 Trauma Center, with training in multiple cardiovascular intervention specialties including Interventional Cardiology, Interventional Neurology, Interventional Radiology, and Electrophysiology.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient identification and ensure appropriate signed informed consent is present.
  • Identify and document allergies and history of contrast reactions prior to procedures.
  • Ensure the integrity and expiration dates of sterile supplies and medications.
  • Prepare and sterilize equipment; monitor and record vital signs, assessing distal pulses pre and post-procedure.
  • Participate in the pre-procedural time-out activity to confirm readiness.
  • Prepare access sites with sterile drapes and covers; provide comfort and familiarity with equipment to patients.
  • In collaboration with the physician, select appropriate contrast agents and operate the automatic contrast injector.
  • Administer injectable medications as per physician's orders, including analgesics and anticoagulants.
  • Recognize and respond effectively to patient emergencies, maintaining medical equipment throughout procedures.
  • Scrub in with the physician, adhering to sterile techniques to prevent infections.
  • Advocate for radiation safety, documenting fluoroscopy time and radiation dose while minimizing exposure.
  • Position patients and imaging equipment for optimal projections and select imaging protocols to enhance image quality.
  • Acquire and process digital images, including road mapping and 3D reconstructions.
  • Assist with ultrasound-guided vascular and organ access procedures.
  • Monitor and document procedural data including injection and physiologic data, medications administered, and any complications.
  • Provide post-procedural care, including managing puncture sites and applying dressings or vascular closure devices.
  • Offer practical instruction and guidance to students and partners.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited radiology program.
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required.
  • ARRT(R) certification required.
  • ARRT(VI) or ARRT(CI) certification required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • NIHSS certification preferred.
