Job description

Prevailing Faith Bible Church is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and engaging individual to serve as a Sunday School Teacher and Church Van Driver. This role plays a vital part in the spiritual and physical care of our young church members by providing Bible-based instruction and ensuring safe transportation to and from church.

Key Responsibilities:

Sunday School Instruction (10:00 AM – 12:30 PM):

  • Teach Bible lessons to children ages 2–12 using age-appropriate curriculum
  • Lead children in prayer, songs, memory verses, and interactive learning activities
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Communicate with parents and guardians as needed
  • Assist with light cleanup and setup of the classroom before and after lessons

Transportation Duties (9:30 AM – 10:00 AM; 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM):

  • Operate a church-provided 16-passenger van to pick up and return children attending Sunday School
  • Ensure all passengers are safely seated and accounted for during transport
  • Follow all traffic laws and church transportation policies
  • Maintain cleanliness of the van and report any maintenance needs
  • Communicate with families regarding pickup and drop-off times as needed

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 25 years old (for insurance purposes)
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Previous experience working with children in a church or educational setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of and commitment to Christian values and teachings
  • Ability to lead children in engaging and spiritually enriching activities
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently

Additional Requirements:

  • Background check and driving record verification
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willing to obtain)
  • Must be able to safely lift small children in/out of van seats when necessary
  • Must maintain good communication with the church staff and families
