What are Chro Search professionals?

Chro Search professionals are specialized recruiters or headhunters focused on finding and recruiting top-level HR executives, such as Chief Human Resources Officers (CHROs) and other senior HR leaders. They leverage industry knowledge, networks, and advanced search techniques to identify candidates who can drive organizational strategy and foster a strong workplace culture. These professionals often work for executive search firms or as internal talent acquisition specialists dedicated to HR leadership roles.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in CHRO Search roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in CHRO Search roles often encounter challenges such as sourcing candidates with both strategic HR expertise and strong leadership qualities, as well as ensuring a good cultural fit with the organization. Balancing stakeholder expectations and managing confidential searches can also be demanding. Addressing these challenges requires building a robust network, staying updated on industry trends, and maintaining clear communication with hiring committees and candidates. Leveraging advanced assessment tools and fostering partnerships with executive search firms can also enhance the effectiveness of the search process.

What is the difference between Chro Search vs HR Manager?

Chro Search focuses on executive-level recruitment and talent acquisition, often within specialized search firms or corporate HR departments. HR Managers handle broader HR functions, including employee relations, compliance, and staffing. While both roles require HR certifications and experience, Chro Search is more targeted toward executive placement, whereas HR Managers oversee day-to-day HR operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), you need a strong background in HR management, organizational leadership, and typically a degree in human resources or a related field, often supported by SPHR or SHRM-SCP certifications. Familiarity with HRIS platforms, talent management systems, and compliance software is essential for overseeing HR operations and strategy. Exceptional interpersonal, strategic thinking, and change management skills help a CHRO build strong relationships and guide organizational transformation. These competencies ensure effective talent management, regulatory compliance, and alignment of HR practices with business goals.

Job description

About LaunchWell Group

The HR and talent industry wasn\'t built for growth-stage companies, and it shows.

LaunchWell Group is changing that. We\'re a next-generation People partner built specifically for organizations that are scaling fast, operating lean, and can\'t afford to get talent wrong. No generalist playbooks. No one-size-fits-all solutions. Just bespoke, embedded support - across CHRO, Talent, and HR - designed to meet each organization exactly where they are.

Our clients are venture-backed startups, private equity portfolio companies, and mission-driven organizations building their People function often for the first time. They come to us because the traditional options - recruiting firms, fractional leaders, PEOs - weren\'t built for them.

LaunchWell is.

About the Engagement:

As a Principal, Talent Partnership/Recruiter (Contract) with LaunchWell, you will serve as an embedded talent partner to growth-stage, PE- and VC-backed organizations, helping them build and scale teams, hiring processes, and talent infrastructure aligned with their business goals, operating model, and growth objectives.

Working closely with client leadership teams and hiring managers, you will lead full-cycle recruiting efforts while helping organizations strengthen hiring processes, interview structure, talent operations, and broader talent infrastructure as they scale. You will act as a trusted advisor throughout the search process, providing market insight, candidate evaluation, talent mapping, and hiring guidance across growth, transformation, and operational expansion initiatives.

Terms of Engagement & Compensation

  • This is a fractional, independent contractor (1099) engagement.

  • Commitment of approximately 10โ€“40 hours per week based on active client engagements and business needs.

  • Monthly hours and workload may fluctuate depending on client activity, project timelines, and broader business demand

  • Contractors are expected to proactively communicate availability, capacity changes, and other client commitments to support engagement planning and resource allocation.

  • Engagement requires flexibility to support evolving client priorities and short planning horizons.

  • Work will primarily be performed remotely, including weekly internal LaunchWell meetings and regular client meetings. Periodic onsite client support and travel may be required depending on client and engagement needs.

  • Compensation: 60-80 hourly, based upon experience

Scope of Work

  • Partner with client leadership teams to lead and execute strategic hiring initiatives across growth-stage organizations.

  • Drive full-cycle recruiting efforts across a variety of functions and seniority levels while delivering a high-quality candidate and hiring manager experience.

  • Implement and reinforce LaunchWell recruiting methodologies and scalable hiring practices, including structured interviews, interview training, scorecards, ATS utilization, and consistent evaluation processes.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen talent infrastructure, hiring workflows, and recruiting operations as organizations scale.

  • Provide market insight, talent mapping, compensation guidance, and strategic hiring recommendations to client stakeholders.

  • Build trusted relationships with client teams while partnering closely with LaunchWell leadership and internal teams to ensure consistent delivery, communication, and engagement planning across accounts.

  • Support broader organizational growth initiatives through process improvement, hiring manager enablement, workforce planning, and scalable talent practices.

  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while maintaining strong execution, organization, and responsiveness in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree plus 8+ years of professional experience, including at least 5+ years in recruiting, talent acquisition, executive search, or talent partnership roles.

  • Demonstrated experience partnering with executive leadership teams in growth-stage, PE-backed, VC-backed, or rapidly scaling organizations.

  • Experience leading full-cycle recruiting efforts across multiple functions and seniority levels, ideally within fast-paced or evolving environments.

  • Experience building or improving hiring processes, interview frameworks, talent operations, or broader talent infrastructure.

  • Strong consultative and client-facing experience, with the ability to influence stakeholders, drive hiring alignment, and operate as a trusted talent partner.

  • Ability to identify organizational gaps and recommend scalable talent practices, workforce planning approaches, and recruiting process improvements.

  • Strong operational mindset with experience balancing recruiting execution alongside process design, documentation, enablement, or talent strategy initiatives.

  • Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), sourcing platforms, and recruiting technologies.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.

  • Highly preferred: Experience supporting SaaS and technology organizations, particularly recruiting for Product, Engineering, Architecture, and Software Program/Product Management roles.
