Job description

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Christmas Driver in Corpus Christi, TX.

Job Summary

Drives van to pick up bell ringers at Corps and transports them to designated work sites and transports them back to the Corps; drives the truck and/or van to and from homes, agencies and churches to pick up gifts, stockings, etc.; loads and unloads gifts from the van to the Corps; lifts, carries, loads and unloads Christmas donations, gifts, stocks, etc.; ensures the safety, security and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol, and organizational structure. Knowledge of the assigned geographic area.

Ability to organize route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers and donors.

Ability to follow instructions.

Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

 

Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED And a minimum of two years driving  experience.

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to operate commercial equipment. Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing duties given. Ability to perform general cleaning activities for building. Ability to safely transport employees in a van. Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism. Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing and climbing as well as lift and carry and/or push/pull moderate (25 – 50 lbs) and possibly heavy (50-100 lbs) materials and donations. Work is performed outside with exposure to changes in weather and outdoor conditions including dirt, dust and/or disagreeable sights and odors.
