Job description

Kalamazoo Christian Schools is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and faith-driven Substitute Teachers to support our classrooms across Preschool through 12th grade.

Substitute Teachers play a critical role in maintaining educational continuity and nurturing a Christ-centered learning environment when regular classroom teachers are absent. The ideal candidate will foster academic excellence while inspiring and equipping students to love and serve the world for Christ.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Classroom Instruction & Management: Execute lesson plans left by the classroom teacher with fidelity, ensuring a safe, orderly, and engaging environment.

  • Faith Integration: Model Christ-like behavior and support a Biblical worldview in interactions with students, faculty, and staff.

  • Student Supervision: Maintain active supervision of students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, and recess as assigned.

  • Communication: Leave detailed notes for the returning teacher regarding lesson progress, student behavior, and any notable incidents.

  • Safety & Security: Follow all school policies, emergency protocols, and child safety guidelines at all times.

Qualifications & RequirementsEducational & Credential Requirements
  • Minimum Education: At least 60 earned college credits from an accredited four-year college or university OR a valid or expired teaching certificate.

  • Background Check: Ability to pass a State of Michigan criminal background check and Livescan fingerprinting prior to hiring.
