Job description


JOB SUMMARY:


Plans and provides activities and childcare services for children participating in the Summer Day Camp Program; plans, develops, and facilitates recreational activities and play time; prepares and maintains program records; maintains cleanliness
and orderliness of Corps property.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:This job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive.

The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than
those stated in this job description.


Provides leadership and constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient,
clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.


Facilitates activities for school age children; ensures that activities are age appropriate,
stimulating, fun and safe for the children.


Determines appropriate supplies and materials for recreational activities; ensures the children's
safety in utilizing the same.

Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.


Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food;
provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children mealtime encouraging conversation.


Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground.


Exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques.


Maintains the program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for materials
necessary for programs.


Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress,
discipline reports,etc.).


Reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.


Assists in facilitating and supervising summer Day Camp Program.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:


Cleans up the game room, kitchen, and library daily; picks-up games and materials.


Assists with transporting children whenever needed; ensures the safety and protection of children at all times.


Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions.


Assists in preparing and providing field trips for children.


Completion of Safe from Harm training.


Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


High School Diploma or GED


Or


Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:


Valid state driver's license


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development.


Knowledge of the principles and practices of early childhood curriculum development.


Ability to ensure the safety of children.


Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general early childhood education curriculum.


Ability to plan, develop and implement effective childhood programs and activities.


Ability to enforce program policies and procedures.


Ability to maintain calm and make sound decisions during state of crisis.


Ability to prioritize activities in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.


MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:


Ability to meet attendance requirements.


Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.


Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.


Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.


Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.


WORKING CONDITIONS:


Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
