ABOUT LLCHC

Lower Lights Christian Health Center (LLCHC) transforms the overall health of Central Ohio, serving one individual at a time. We are focused on whole-person wellness, available to ALL in Central Ohio who need it, regardless of ability to pay! In 2019 alone, we served over 12,000 patients - with 40% being uninsured - and totaled 50,000+ medical encounters!

Operating out of seven locations, we offer medical care (primary care, dental, vision, OB/GYN, telehealth), behavioral and psychiatric care, a low-cost pharmacy, nutritional assistance programs, and more. Working hours are Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday morning coverage.

JOB SUMMARY

Part/Full time, non-exempt position responsible for ensuring smooth operations within the dental clinic. Key duties include verifying patient insurance, submitting and managing insurance claims, handling appeals, obtaining prior authorizations for procedures, confirming appointments, maintaining the appointment schedule, managing internal and external referrals. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

DUTIES

Scheduling Appointments:

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
  • Inform patients about their appointment details and ensure they bring any required documents.
  • Assist patients with rescheduling or cancelling

Maintain Full Schedule:

  • Monitor and adjust the schedule to maximize patient flow and minimize downtime.
  • Follow up with patients on waitlist and get them scheduled
  • Regularly audit patient records to identify those due for hygiene appointments or follow-up treatments

Insurance Verification:

  • Verify patients' dental insurance coverage including benefits, co-pays, and any coverage limitations
  • Record all verified information in the patient's file.
  • Update patient records with current insurance information.

Submit Claims:

  • Submit dental claims to insurance companies accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is included with claims.

Send Prior Authorization:

  • Prepare and submit prior authorization requests to insurance companies.
  • Follow up on pending authorizations to ensure timely approval.
  • Schedule patients for treatment upon approval

Follow on Claims and Send Appeal:

  • Track and follow up on submitted insurance claims.
  • Handle denied claims by preparing and sending appeals with necessary documents.

Referral management:

  • Track internal referrals from medical providers.
  • Send external referrals to specialists and monitor completion.

Qualification:

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Experience in a dental office (1 year required, 2+ years preferred)
  • Familiarity with dental terminology, procedure coding, and insurance billing
  • Ability to interact professionally with patients, dentists, and staff
  • Friendly and empathetic approach to patient care
  • Managing appointments, records, and front desk operations
  • Understanding of dental insurance verification and claims processing
  • Experience with dental practice management software. Familiar with Epic is a plus
  • Handling calls, scheduling, and administrative tasks efficiently
