Job description

Many Bible passages speak of the necessity of Christian education. Psalm 127:3 says, โ€œLo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is His reward.โ€ All children belong to God. That means God should have first claim on them. God is concerned about the education of children. Perhaps the greatest task of parents is to properly educate their children in a way that agrees with Biblical principles.

Parents are given the responsibility of training their children. Ephesians 6:4 states that parents are to โ€œbring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.โ€ The church, also, has a responsibility to instruct. Matthew 28:20 says, โ€œteaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.โ€ The faculty of Family Life Community School recognizes the important responsibility entrusted to them of teaching in loco parentis โ€” in the place of parents. So, to achieve effective Christian education, it is necessary to have a Spirit-filled teacher instructing a Spirit-filled student in accordance to the principles of the Bible.

Like a three-legged stool, there are three factors which support the effectiveness of Christian educationโ€”the church, the Christian home, and the Christian school. When one of these is deficient, Christian education may be affected. Religious education begins at home and is founded upon the local church. Therefore, local church involvement is essential in order for the ministry of the Christian school to be successful. FLCS carefully evaluates these three factors when considering the application of a teacher.
