Job description

About This Role

The Christian Post is seeking a skilled, fast-moving Videographer and Video Editor to join our team and lead CP's video growth engine. This is a full execution role: you will shoot, edit, and own the end-to-end production of video content that brings important stories to life - from Capitol Hill to Christian ministry, from urgent cultural moments to human-centered faith narratives.

You'll be spearheading a critical shift in how The Christian Post reaches its audience. Our readers increasingly expect and seek video content. You'll help transform our editorial excellence into visual stories that educate, inform, and engage Christians seeking to understand the times - and the faith implications of what's happening in the world.

If you're a strong shooter who can't edit, or a strong editor who can't shoot, this isn't the role for you. We need both at the same standard. You'll work closely with our editorial team, leadership, and strategic partners (including a major documentary project) to build CP's video portfolio from the ground up.

What You'll Do

  • Execute video shoots on location - covering news events, ministry stories, leadership interviews, and cultural moments relevant to Christian audiences
  • Edit footage into polished, platform-ready content - from short-form social video (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) to long-form documentary material
  • Produce primarily short-form social content with consistent quality, intentionality, and deep awareness of platform trends and performance
  • Contribute to long-form branded content, website videos, and major projects (including documentary production)
  • Collaborate closely with editorial leadership, reporters, content strategists, and stakeholders to understand story intent and deliver on strategic objectives
  • Stay ahead of platform trends, formats, and what's actually working in social video - and bring those insights to the team
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously without sacrificing quality or strategic intent

Who We're Looking For

  • Equal confidence behind the camera and in the edit - this role requires mastery of both
  • Someone who holds themselves to a standard before anyone else has to
  • A strong eye for pacing, storytelling, and what makes short-form content perform - combined with the ability to execute long-form work with depth
  • Ability to shoot and edit quickly without losing quality or intention
  • Flexibility in style - you can adapt to serious news moments, faith-based storytelling, cultural commentary, and urgent breaking stories
  • A passion for news, current events, and their cultural/spiritual significance (not required, but valued)
  • Clear communication and collaborative instincts - you'll work with diverse teams and strong personalities
  • Complete ownership of your role and responsibilities; you're not just executing orders - you're shaping our visual voice

Experience & Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional videography and editing experience (freelance, agency, newsroom, or equivalent)
  • A portfolio demonstrating: short-form social content, long-form branded/documentary work, and full shoot-to-edit ownership
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects; DaVinci Resolve a plus
  • Experience with professional camera systems (RED, Canon, Sony, Panasonic) and on-location shooting in varying conditions
  • Strong understanding of current social video platforms and what content performs well on each
  • Experience in news, documentary, or editorial contexts is highly valued

The Offer

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Washington, D.C.

  • Health insurance (medical, dental, vision)
  • Paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick days, maternity/paternity)
  • A collaborative, fast-moving team environment with real room to grow and shape how Christian media evolves

How to Apply

Submit your resume, a cover letter explaining why you're passionate about bringing these stories to life, and a portfolio or link to your work (required). Applications submitted without a portfolio will not be considered.
Please fill the application one time only.
