Job description

Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University's mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.
Teach Residential English courses in the Department of English. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching. Teaching assignments include general education courses in English and Writing. The position requires a love of teaching, the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats, knowledge of pedagogical best practices, the ability to use current teaching technology (LMS, e-textbooks, etc.), and a commitment to the evangelical standards and mission of Liberty University.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach courses in the English Department
  • Reports to English Dept. Chair
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Record attendance and grades in Canvas
  • Classroom management and allocation of teaching resources
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications: MA in English, or 18 graduate hours in discipline.
Preferred Qualifications: PHD in English; MFA in Creative Writing; Credentials to teach TESOL.
