Job Description: Combined Classroom Teacher for 3rd and 4th Grade

Responsible to: Principal

General Overview

Citi Christian Academy is a Christian Private School located in the urban core of Miami in the Allapattah neighborhood. CitiChurch exists to change Allapattah by providing direct educational & spiritual opportunities, strengthening families and linking residents together in a supportive neighborhood. Citi Christian Academy is an extension of accomplishing this mission.

Position Overview

Generally, the teacher is responsible for planning and implementing an appropriate educational program for the children assigned to his/her class, following the guidelines of the school approved curriculum and course of study. The teacher is also responsible to fulfill assigned duties and tasks, attend designated professional development and school events, and abide by the terms and polices of the school. Teachers must be in agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith and have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Teachers are to be leading a Godly life, modeling faithfulness and participating actively in the local church. The teacher should believe that teaching is a ministry and feel called by God to teach.

Key Responsibilities:

The following items are intended as a general description of classroom and instructional responsibilities and should not be interpreted as a comprehensive list. The role of a teacher is broad, varied, and responsible to the overall needs of the students in the program.

• Present with appropriate method and preparedness the curriculum course of study of assigned students

• Be prompt to class and maintain a well-disciplined, well-managed, pleasant, clean and stimulating classroom environment conducive to optimum participation in reaching spiritual as well as educational goals and objectives.

• Communicate clearly and regularly with parents, peers and administrative staff

• Ensure schedules and procedures are carried out consistently, promptly and with excellence

• Use effective and creative instructional strategies.

• Maintain appropriate records.

• Supervise students both in and out of class and at student activities.

• Be informed as to the academic, social, and spiritual development of each of his/her students.

• Act as a respectful problem solver

Personal and Professional Qualifications

• Be a born again, consecrated Christian, supporting the purpose and goals of CCA

• Active member of a church whose teaching agrees with the CCA Statement of Faith

Technology Requirements

• Ability to troubleshoot basic TV/DVD connections

• Ability to use TV’s and DVD’s with ease

• Familiar with Mac or ability to learn quickly

Requirements

• Minimum of 2-3 years experience

• Reliable personal transportation

• Reliable cell phone

• Able to pass a Level 2 background screening

Physical Requirements

• Stand and move about classroom continuously 4-5 hours per day

• Reach above shoulder level, occasionally

• Lift books, boxes, paper, other supplies up to 10 lbs

• Repetitive use of hands throughout day

• Work at a computer 2-3 hours per day

• Other activities appropriate to the supervision and instruction of children for 6+ hours per day

• Walk upstairs and on uneven ground, daily
