Job description

The Ecommerce Merchandising Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining engaging online shopping experiences that support Christianbook's merchandising and marketing strategies. This role manages product content, landing pages, author pages, collections, and promotional merchandising across the website to ensure customers can easily discover and shop relevant products.

Working closely with Merchandising, Marketing, Creative, and Purchasing teams, the Ecommerce Merchandising Specialist executes merchandising initiatives, optimizes product presentation, and supports promotional campaigns using customer insights, analytics, and SEO best practices. As Christianbook transitions to Shopify, this role will play an active part in adopting new merchandising tools, supporting evolving workflows, and helping enhance the overall ecommerce experience.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

Operational Excellence & Project Execution

  • Manage and maintain merchandising content across Christianbook.com to ensure an engaging and customer-friendly shopping experience.
  • Build and maintain author pages, landing pages, stores, collections, and promotional pages.
  • Support the transition to Shopify by learning new merchandising tools, testing functionality, and adopting evolving workflows.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of site merchandising processes and standards.
  • Ensure merchandising content is accurate, timely, and aligned with established quality standards.

Promotional Planning & Execution

  • Partner with Merchandising, Marketing, Creative, and Purchasing teams to execute promotional campaigns, seasonal initiatives, and new product launches
  • Merchandise featured products, promotions, and marketing initiatives across the website.
  • Assist with merchandising content for marketing emails and promotional campaigns.
  • Support timely execution of promotional priorities while maintaining merchandising accuracy

Website Experience & Merchandising

  • Optimize product presentation and merchandising to improve customer engagement and product discovery.
  • Monitor bestselling products, customer interests, and industry trends to recommend merchandising opportunities.
  • Utilize web analytics and sales data to improve page performance and customer experience.
  • Apply SEO best practices to product and landing page content to improve search visibility.
  • Help create a consistent and intuitive shopping experience across the website

Required Education & Experience 

Education

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Combination of education and relevant experience may be considered

Experience 

  • 3-5 years experience with ecommerce content management, site merchandising, digital marketing, or online retail preferred. 
  • Experience with Shopify or another ecommerce platform preferred; willingness to learn Shopify required. 
  • Experience creating and maintaining web content, landing pages, or digital merchandising assets. 
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and ecommerce merchandising principles. 
  • Experience interpreting web analytics and applying data to improve merchandising performance preferred. 
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading experience.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate performance and recommend improvements.
