Job description

Position Summary: Operates one plant machinery as directed and specified while adhering to all rules and regulations mandated by safety policies and procedures to produce a superior product.

General Purpose: To efficiently operate one machine at standard efficiency levels in order to fulfill daily production requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Read and Perform Authorized LOTO as outlined for machine.
  • Operating in a safe manner.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Communicate daily with Team Leader or Shift Supervisor on any changes or issues that may impact quality or machine efficiency.
  • Sets stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule or templates.
  • Observes machine operation to detect product defects, machine malfunction and waste.
  • Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance assuring product meets quality requirements.
  • Performs routine machine maintenance.
  • Ensure product specification, HACCP, label verification and other quality measures are in compliance.
  • Ensure any machine deficiencies, cases per hour, and other parameters are noted on the communication board.
  • Communicate with oncoming Machine Operator.
  • Assist other operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product.
  • Ensure all housekeeping, environmental, and GMPs are maintained and adhered to.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to add, sub-tract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Must be able to identify colors.
