What is a chiropractic locum?

A Chiropractic Locum is a licensed chiropractor who temporarily fills in for another chiropractor, often to cover periods of absence such as vacations, medical leave, or maternity leave. Locum chiropractors ensure continuity of care for patients and help clinics maintain their operations when the regular practitioner is unavailable. They may work in various clinics, adapting quickly to different environments and patient needs. This role can be a great opportunity for chiropractors seeking flexibility and diverse experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a chiropractic locum, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Chiropractic Locum, you need a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree, state licensure, and a solid grasp of diagnostic, adjustment, and therapeutic techniques. Familiarity with chiropractic practice management systems and electronic health records is often required, along with relevant malpractice insurance. Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and professionalism help you quickly build rapport with patients and integrate into new clinical environments. These skills are crucial for maintaining continuity of care, ensuring patient trust, and successfully supporting diverse practices on a temporary basis.

What are some common challenges chiropractic locums face when adapting to different clinics?

Chiropractic Locums often encounter challenges such as adjusting to varying clinic protocols, documentation systems, and patient management styles. Since each clinic may use different techniques, software, and scheduling approaches, flexibility and quick learning are essential. Building rapport with existing staff and patients in a short timeframe can also be demanding, but strong communication skills and professionalism help smooth the transition. • Focus on patient care: Our clinic team handles the front desk, scheduling, payments, and day‑to‑day administrative functions.
  • Established patient model: Walk-in and membership‑based chiropractic care means you can focus on delivering quality care rather than building your own practice.
  • No insurance billing: Our cash‑based model keeps the patient experience simple and straightforward.
  • Marketing and operational support: You don't have to manage the business side of the clinic.
The Opportunity
  • PRN/As‑Needed Coverage

As a PRN Chiropractor, you will provide high‑quality chiropractic care while creating a positive experience for every patient.

  • Evaluate patients through health histories, examination, and review of X‑rays when indicated.
  • Perform chiropractic adjustments and other appropriate chiropractic techniques.
  • Develop and communicate appropriate care recommendations.
  • Educate patients on the benefits of routine chiropractic care and wellness.
  • Build positive, professional doctor‑patient relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
  • Follow clinical protocols and company standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Wellness Coordinator to provide an excellent patient experience.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Reliable and professional.
  • Flexible mindset and willingness to provide coverage when available.
A Great Fit For Someone Who:
  • Wants to pick up extra shifts without committing to a permanent schedule.
  • Is transitioning between practices or looking for additional clinical hours.
  • Enjoys a fast-paced, patient‑focused environment.
  • Wants to practice without the administrative responsibilities of running a private practice.
  • Values flexibility and the ability to decide which available shifts fit their schedule.
