CNC Machinist: Milledgeville, Illinois
Our customer in Milledgeville, Illinois is seeking motivated individuals to join their team. We’re recruiting a CNC Machinist to work full-time on 1st shift. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for CNC setup and machining of parts, building and assembling inspection fixtures, and completing all fitting, assembly, and finish work required before tools ship. The ideal candidate will work closely with CAD and engineering teams to ensure quality, efficiency, and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist:
  • Follow setup sheets; set up and operate Haas CNC mills.
  • Manufacture and assemble checking fixtures (gauges).
  • Inspect Kanban parts, pins, small parts, and check vents.
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload billet, stock, and finished parts on and off mills.
  • Perform chip removal as required and check/add coolant.
  • Daily rinse mills and weekly clean chip catchers in coolant trays.
  • Complete in-process quality checks, including visual inspections.
  • Continuously improve processes through CAD and the engineering feedback loop.
  • Attend production turnover meetings.
  • Assist with training alongside the Shop Supervisor and senior cell employees utilizing the Training Tracker system.
  • Utilize the shop-wide Kanban system and pull-driven manufacturing system.
  • Maintain adherence to attendance, safety, manufacturing, housekeeping, and cleanup policies.
  • Complete core venting, pin venting, polishing, deburring, lining, logo mounting, fitting individual males to females book tools, and plate finishing work.
  • Construct water and steam manifolds.
  • Complete in-process inspections, General Work Instructions (GWI), and QA documentation.
  • Band tools and skids when required.
  • Build, assemble, and disassemble tooling and inspection fixtures.
  • Complete all fitting, assembly, and finish work after CAD and CNC operations are complete and prior to shipment.
CNC Machinist Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment, preferably Haas CNC mills.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to build, assemble, and disassemble tooling and fixtures.
  • Ability to read and follow setup sheets, work instructions, and quality documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to safely handle materials and perform machine maintenance tasks.
  • Experience with manufacturing, machining, assembly, and inspection processes preferred.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and participate in training initiatives.
  • No violent felony convictions or multiple drug-related charges.
Pay for CNC Machinist: Starting at $18-$24/hour.
