Company Summary:
Beacon is a successful and national behavioral health company providing residential-based services and supports to children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Severe Mental Illness, Autism, and high-acuity behaviors.
Position Summary:
**This is a full-time position with flexible scheduling**
The Registered Nurse (RN) partners with the Director of Nursing to oversee the care of the individuals ensuring the best practice and care of the individuals served. This role fosters a "One Team" approach, ensuring collaboration among medical, clinical, and operations teams to achieve the highest quality of care and support. Key responsibilities include travelling to homes, providing the highest quality of care to include medication management, medical treatment needs, education, and providing support to the Direct Service Providers.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants as needed per market.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Weekly and daily follow-up with to monitor infection(s) when needed.
  • Administration of medications and vaccinations as requested by the physician or psychiatrist.
  • Assess individuals upon admission and per state requirements thereafter meeting the needs of the individuals served.
  • Under the direction of the DON, identifies, coordinates and monitors the health care of the individuals served, especially those with complex medical needs at assigned sites.
  • Administration of first aid as needed.
  • Diabetic foot assessments.
  • Assists with coordination of care and treatment for the individual served to ensure psychiatric, medical, dental, and optical appointments are scheduled as needed.
  • Communicates and coordinates and physical health concerns and follow up treatment with physicians and psychiatrists.
  • Performs medication administration and initial medical classroom training and ensure state requirements are being met.
  • Educate Direct Support Professionals (DSP) on the use of scales, blood pressure, oximeter, thermometer, stethoscope, glucometer, wheelchair, and any other durable medical equipment or any other need that is new to the home that is ordered by a physician.
  • Participates in medical on call rotation if required.
  • Assists with development and revisions of medical policies and procedures.
  • Audit the medication room, EMAR and EHR programs following state requirements.
  • Educates staff regarding infection prevention and monitoring and overall physical health of individuals served.
  • When needed, provide input/data/summaries as part of the Infection Control Plan.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Valid RN license with a minimum of two (2) years previous experience preferred.
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.
  • Approved by state, federal and government entities to work within BSLS programs.
  • Ability to use office equipment, including BSLS information technology systems.
  • Computer proficiency is required.
