Job description

NEW Medical Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine Driscoll Children s Hospital

Driscoll Health System division of Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine is pleased to announce a job opening for inpatient faculty position at Driscoll Children s Hospital - Corpus Christi, Texas. This campus is a freestanding children s hospital with dedicated pediatric ICU and ER and a full scope of pediatric subspecialist and surgical specialties. As the Medical Director of Hospitalist Medicine, you will be responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of a growing Pediatric Hospitalist department and leading a team of talent physicians. The current program is partnered with Driscoll Children s Residency program. Your expertise and leadership skills will ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. Eligible physicians should be Board Certified in Pediatrics with minimum 5 years experience in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Subspecialty certification in Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine preferred. Unrestricted TX license or the ability to obtain one required. Responsibilities include inpatient care, coverage of pediatric unit and intermediate care unit, consult services, clinic coverage, and teaching of residents. Develop and implement departmental policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure effective patient care. Oversee medical staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage of hospital services. Monitor patient outcomes, quality metrics, and patient satisfaction to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate interventions, provide mentorship, and more.

Through the vision and generosity of its founder, Clara Driscoll, Driscoll Children s Hospital opened in 1953, becoming the first, and remains the only, free-standing children s hospital in South Texas. In 2019, Driscoll had over 141,000 patient visits, including over 46,000 patients seen at South Texas first emergency room created exclusively for children.
