Children's Ministry Director
TROY, AL! GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE LOOKING FOR PART-TIME!
POSITION: Children's Ministries Director
Supervisor: The Children's Ministries Director shall be responsible to the SPRC and will work under the direct supervision of the Pastor.
Hours: Part-time position with hours as established between Supervisor and Children's Ministries Director and communicated to Staff Committee.
Salary: Salary is negotiable as determined by the staff committee in consultation with the Finance Committee, subject to approval of the annual budget by Church Council.
Annual Evaluation: This position will be included in an annual evaluation as provided in the employee handbook.
Position Summary: The Children's Ministries Director must demonstrate a real love and concern for all people. The Children's Ministries Director should be of mature faith and have a passion for developing young disciples. This person should serve as an advocate, role model, spiritual mentor, and encourager to children and families. This person will plan, organize, and direct the children and family ministries to provide an environment for faith development and discipleship formation of the children.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in Ministry.
  • Preferably a degree in Seminary/Bible School Education.
  • At least 21 years old with a valid driver's license.
  • Satisfactory references.
  • A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders.
  • Understanding of and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills accompanied by a positive attitude with children and families.
  • Ability to deal with and relate to children and families by earning their respect and trust.
  • Strong ability to lead children of varying ethnicities, socio-economic levels, and generations.
  • A desire to teach and mentor children in biblical truth.
  • Ability to pass background check.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A growing faith and character.
  • A commitment to the mission of the church.
  • Ability to work in cooperation with church staff and leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recruit volunteers to assist in the planning and implementation of all activities relating to children and families.
  • Be involved in the lives of the children.
  • Assist in the recruiting and training of Children's Sunday School teachers.
  • Plan and supervise holiday activities for children.
  • Engage children in such a way to promote their understanding of missions.
  • Involve children, where possible, with other church events and activities and keep participation records accordingly.
  • Plan and direct Kid's Club and all Wednesday children's programs.
  • Plan and direct Children's Church on Sunday mornings.
  • Plan and direct Vacation Bible School.
  • Attend children's camps and retreats.
  • Be involved in the total life of the church.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and retreats.
  • Attend Church Council meetings.
  • Maintain a website and church social media for this ministry.
  • Prepare and present the annual budget for the Children's Ministries to the finance committee for inclusion in the annual church budget and operate within that budget.
  • Participate in continued education opportunities as available/funded.
  • Provide a year-end summary for the church's annual report.
  • Maintain scheduled office hours.
  • Communicate all problems/needs, etc. to the Pastor in a timely manner.
  • Be available to help troubleshoot problems or "fill in the gap" as necessary.
  • Correspond with the Administrative Assistant to maintain bulletin announcements.
  • Implement general written church policies (e.g., Ministry Safe, etc.) as it relates to family ministries.
  • Serve as direct supervisor for Nursery Workers.
