Job description

Title: Guest Experience Associate
Reports To: Guest Experience Manager
Scheduling: Part-time, 21 hours per week, Non-exempt
Shifts available: Varied days and hours, some nights and weekends
Kohl Children's Museum of Greater Chicago is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide experiences and memories to build a foundation for a lifetime of learning. Through our museum space in Glenview, IL, we offer engaging learning environments featuring interactive exhibits and programs that encourage young children to become effective learners through play. As part of our commitment to ensuring that every child has access to the best learning experiences possible, we extend our footprint throughout the Chicagoland area through outreach programs, traveling exhibits, and partnering with educators to inspire meaningful change in the education of young children.
The Guest Experience Associate is responsible for providing a welcoming experience for all visitors of the museum. This role assists patrons with admissions, membership purchases, and is a point of contact for questions or concerns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain knowledge of front desk procedures and museum information, delivering exceptional customer service when assisting patrons with purchases, questions, and other needs
  • Utilize Point of Sale (POS) system to sell admission tickets, memberships, and special event tickets
  • Process all correspondence from members including applications, renewals, inquiries and gift memberships
  • Account for cash drawer and adheres to cash and credit card handling procedures
  • Answer the museum phone line and directs calls, as appropriate
  • Monitor museum entrance, ensuring visitor and child safety
Additional Responsibilities
  • Attend monthly, quarterly and annual museum trainings and meeting, as needed
  • Assist with data entry and administrative tasks, as assigned
  • Support team members with a positive and collaborative attitude
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned
The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in a museum or customer-facing role, preferred
  • Experience working with children, preferred
  • Experience working with database management or Point-of-Sales system and/or cash handling, preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills and proficiency in conflict resolution
  • Friendly demeanor and ability to work with individuals of all levels of an organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in office technology and software (Microsoft Office suite)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive material
  • Must have flexibility with work schedule, as necessary, to support weekend scheduling and/or evening activities as needed
