Job description

St. Joseph Parish, Cockeysville seeks candidates for a Family and Children's Ministry Associate. The Family and Children's Ministry Associate reports to the Director of Family and Children's Ministry. This is a part-time position working 20-25 weekly hours.
Essential Functions
  • Coordinate all necessary steps for infant and child Baptisms, including preparation sessions for parents and godparents
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of programs and events geared toward children ages 0-4 and their families
  • Oversee the preparation of candidates and families receiving the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
  • Assist with program preparation and volunteer recruitment and training for Children's Liturgy of the Word
  • Assist with the development of the parish's family-centered Sunday faith formation program, including helping to recruit, train, and supervise catechists and volunteers
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of the annual summer Vacation Bible School
  • Ensure the Safe Environment requirements (i.e., Virtus, Worthy of the Call) for faith formation volunteers are in compliance with Archdiocesan standards

Position Qualifications
  • Practicing and devoted Catholic who is able to fully participate in the sacramental life of the Church
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and to adapt when unexpected situations or challenges arise
  • Ability to work well with children and young families
  • Ability to direct, form, and manage volunteers
  • Ability to support the mission of the Catholic Church and of St. Joseph Parish as a beacon of Faith, Worship, and Witness within the respective job duties
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary

Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00, Hourly
