Position: Part-Time Closing Manager
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Afternoon/Evening
Location: Discovery Point Hamilton Mill – Dacula, GA
Employment Type: Part-Time
Discovery Point Hamilton Mill is seeking an experienced and dependable Part-Time Closing Manager to oversee our childcare center during the afternoon and closing hours.
This is a management position, not an entry-level childcare position. Previous daycare/childcare center management experience is required. The ideal candidate is confident supervising staff, communicating with families, maintaining licensing compliance, and handling day-to-day operational issues independently.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee center operations during afternoon and closing hours
  • Supervise teachers and ensure classrooms remain properly staffed and in ratio
  • Monitor staff performance, attendance, breaks, and classroom coverage
  • Assist with call-outs and make staffing adjustments when necessary
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding questions, concerns, incidents, and daily issues
  • Ensure classrooms follow center policies, health and safety procedures, and licensing requirements
  • Conduct classroom and building walkthroughs throughout the shift
  • Review and follow up on incident/accident reports when necessary
  • Assist with Procare communication, attendance, and parent check-in/check-out issues
  • Support teachers with behavior, classroom management, and parent concerns
  • Ensure children are released only to authorized individuals
  • Manage late pickups and closing procedures
  • Verify classrooms are cleaned, sanitized, organized, and properly closed
  • Complete final building walkthrough and ensure the center is secured at closing
  • Communicate important issues and follow-ups to the Director/management team
Requirements
  • Previous daycare/childcare center management experience is REQUIRED
  • Experience as a Director, Assistant Director, Closing Manager, Administrative Assistant, or similar childcare leadership role strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of childcare center operations and licensing requirements
  • Experience supervising and directing childcare staff
  • Ability to make decisions and handle problems independently
  • Strong parent communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Professional, organized, and able to remain calm in a busy childcare environment
  • Must be comfortable holding staff accountable and enforcing center policies
  • Must meet all Georgia childcare employment and background-check requirements
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the center during closing hours, rather than someone who requires constant direction. The right candidate will be dependable, firm but professional with staff, comfortable communicating with parents, and capable of keeping the center running smoothly and safely through the end of the day.
Please apply only if you have previous daycare/childcare management experience.
