Glassboro Child Development Centers is seeking an experienced School Age Group Leader to support our after-school programs. If you enjoy working with children, creating engaging activities, and building positive relationships with families, we would love to meet you!


As a Group Leader, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where school-age children can learn, grow, and thrive.


Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:45 PM-6:00 PM
  • Hours: Approximately 16.25 hours per week
  • Pay Rate: $20.65/hour
  • Potential Weekly Earnings: Up to $335/week
  • Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
  • AM shifts may be available depending on program needs and location


Job Responsibilities

The School Age Group Leader is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate activities while supporting children's social, emotional, language, and physical development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcome children and families while creating a positive, supportive environment
  • Plan and implement engaging activities that support children's interests and development
  • Provide active supervision of children during indoor and outdoor activities
  • Promote health and safety practices throughout the program
  • Observe children and document developmental progress and program participation
  • Communicate with families regarding children's needs, progress, and concerns
  • Support and mentor Assistant Teachers, Leaders, and volunteers as assigned
  • Assist children with bathroom and personal care routines as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment


Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in required professional development and ongoing training
  • Attend staff meetings and agency events
  • Participate in reflective supervision
  • Assist with classroom organization, cleaning, and material preparation
  • Participate in parent conferences as needed


Qualifications

Required

  • Three years of experience working with children (preferably in a school or childcare setting)
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, and team members

Preferred

  • Child Development Associate (CDA)
  • Associate degree or 60 college credits in Early Childhood Education or related field


Professional Development

Employees must complete a minimum of 20 hours of relevant annual training, including topics such as:

  • Curriculum and child development
  • Child assessment
  • Infant/early childhood mental health
  • Quality standards
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Other required childcare training topics


Work Environment

This position works in a school-age classroom setting and may include indoor and outdoor activities. The Group Leader must be available for occasional evening or weekend hours for required agency activities or events.
