Job description

Summary: Work as an assistant to the full time staff member in the classroom.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in implementation of daily curriculum that provides social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual experiences for the children in the classroom
  • Follow proper safety guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures and techniques

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in childcare or education preferred
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices of young children
  • Ability to provide guidance for young children
  • Ability to work with children and move quickly, assist and supervise young children, lift children, equipment and supplies, and hear and see at a distance
  • Exhibit patience, creativity, flexibility, enthusiasm and stamina
  • Able to constantly lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to constantly push/pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to stand and walk constantly

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
  • 15 clock hours of training annually pertaining to growth and development, curriculum, health and safety and professional development
  • Bloodborne Pathogens and Right to Know training as required by federal law
  • Successful completion of background checks, physical and PPD (TB skin test)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Consistently model Christlike attitude and demeanor with staff, children and parents
