Job Summary
School Bus Drivers are responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and related events. Drivers pick up students at designated locations - such as homes or street corners - and ensure they arrive safely and on time.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely transport students to and from school and/or school activities while following all safety procedures and state regulations.
  • Operate a school bus in various weather, road, and traffic conditions.
  • Comply with all traffic laws and drive in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Communicate and enforce bus rules, safety procedures, and behavior expectations.
  • Address student behavior appropriately and communicate with parents or guardians when needed.
  • Assist students boarding or exiting the bus, including those with special needs or equipment.
  • Perform daily bus inspections and basic maintenance (checking fluids, tires, cleanliness, etc.).
  • Maintain comfort by regulating heating, lighting, and ventilation systems.
  • Complete required reports and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Operate a two-way radio and follow assigned routes using maps or written directions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe vehicle at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements
  • CDL Class A or B - or the ability to obtain.
  • Endorsements: Passenger (P) and School Bus (S).
  • Ability to pass a DOT medical examination.
