Job Description
The Assistant Crew Chief is a developmental position that assists the survey Crew Chief by conducting field activities under direct supervision.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of survey equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Stock and help maintain a clean vehicle.
  • Assist in prompt start to survey activities at project site by assembling and setting up necessary equipment.
  • Perform survey activities such as: leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile, and cross section surveys.
  • Record field notes legibly and accurately while following the Atwell established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • A valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle is required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a Survey Field Technician
  • Basic plan and map reading (i.e., construction/engineering plans, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, plats, etc.)
  • Typical survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS systems, data collectors, UAV's, etc. Experience with Trimble brand preferred.
  • Proficiency in conducting UAV surveys and processing point cloud data is preferred. Knowledge of drones such as the DJI Matrice 350 RTI, Phantom 4 RTI and Wingra with LiDAR and photogrammetry payloads is desirable.
