Job description

JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Rheumatologist
• Job Type: Permanent – Full-Time
• Location: Munster, IN
• Service Setting: Outpatient Practice (Hospital-Employed)
• Schedule: Monday – Friday; standard business hours
• On-Call Expectations: 1:3 call rotation
• Start Date: Upon completion of credentialing (approximately 90–120 days post-offer)

PATIENT POPULATION & SCOPE
• Patient Demographics: Adult and geriatric populations with autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders
• Average Daily Volume / Census: Based on clinic scheduling; manageable caseload supported by integrated EMR and system resources
• Admissions & Rounding: Minimal; primarily outpatient focus
• Consults & Follow-Ups: Yes, primarily outpatient consultative and follow-up care
• Case Mix/Clinical Focus Areas: Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, vasculitis, connective tissue disease, and other inflammatory disorders

FACILITY & TEAM DETAILS
• EMR System: Epic
• Specialty Backup: Access to full network of subspecialists across Community Healthcare System
• Support Staff: Dedicated nursing and administrative support team
• Leadership & Reporting Structure: Reports to the Medical Director / Division Chief

CREDENTIALING & COMPLIANCE
• Board Requirements: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology
• DEA & Certifications: Active DEA; BLS and ACLS required
• Credentialing Timeline: 90–120 days

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Board Status: BC/BE in Rheumatology
• State License Required: Indiana medical license or eligibility to obtain
• Certifications: DEA, BLS, ACLS
• Experience: Prior clinical experience in Rheumatology preferred; new fellows welcome to apply
• Additional Requirements: Strong communication skills, patient-centered focus, and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with autoimmune and musculoskeletal diseases
• Provide longitudinal management and follow-up of chronic rheumatologic conditions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including internal medicine and specialty services
• Utilize Epic EMR for efficient and compliant documentation
• Participate in quality improvement and clinical outcomes initiatives
• Contribute to the continued development of the Rheumatology service line within Community Healthcare System
