Your mission, roles and responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Engineer - Product (CEP) the Resident Engineer is the principal point of contact to the customers for all technical items related to product development.
The role of a Resident Engineer is:
  • Owns customer relationship at DRE / D&R level and provides high level customer representation
  • Lead Engineering PMS Work Packages and Customer Engineering Milestones
  • Core team member of APQP supporting the Program Manager, Account Manager, to ensure the delivery of customer and internal deliverables
  • Leading the preparation and presentation of customer technical reviews and future business opportunities business awards.
  • Ensures engineering bill of materials (EBOM) meets QCD targets throughout product development and launch process.
  • Support customer program meetings as requested.
  • Responsible for leading development of specific APQP documents
  • Responsible for risk management utilizing DFMEA and DVP&R
  • Prototype build support as needed on-site with customer build support or problem resolution
  • Coordinate physical testing requirements in alignment with DVP&R
  • Lead technical discussions with customers and liaise with the UAD as necessary to ensure all technical requirements are understood and delivered. Report on technical progress and design issues, through written technical reports.
  • Ensures product design meets SOW requirements.
  • Review customer warranty issues and ensure these are addressed in future technical solutions.
  • Support IP, Warranty, and VAVE activity
  • Responsible for internal and customer change management execution
  • Launch support as required at customer and internal plants

Your profile and competencies to succeed
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Master's degree or BS degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the automotive industry
  • Cross functional Management skills
  • Experience in customer relationship
  • Leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in engineering project management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong teamwork sense
  • Must have global mindset
  • Travel approx. 30% depending on program phase/needs
