Job Description

Conducts hearings and makes findings of facts and conclusions of law in matters alleging violations of criminal law etc.

Responsibilities
  • 1. Presides over various matters requiring judicial action prior to disposition.
  • 2. Presides over hearing and trials including jury trials.
  • 3. Hears evidence
  • 4. Compels production of relevant evidence, including books, papers, vouchers, documents, and other writings.
  • 5. Rules on admissibility of evidence.
  • 6. Issues summons and attachments for the appearance of witnesses.
  • 7. Examines witnesses
  • 8. Swears witnesses for hearings and trials.
  • 9. Performs acts and takes the necessary and proper measures for the efficient performance of duties as assigned by the Chief Magistrate.
  • 10 Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training: Juris Doctorate, licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, and 5 years experience practicing law. Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be able to act independently on own authority. Physical/Environmental Requirements: Standard office environment.
