We are currently seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team! This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility of three days in the office and two days remotely. Our Support Office is conveniently located in Brentwood, TN.

Job Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the overall financial strategy, financial health, and fiscal management of the Company and its managed communities and entities. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CFO provides strategic financial leadership to support organizational growth, operational performance, profitability, and long-term sustainability. The CFO provides executive oversight of Finance and Accounting, including financial planning and analysis, accounting and financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, treasury and cash management, internal controls, financial systems, tax coordination, investor and lender reporting, and financial risk management.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and executive oversight of the Company’s Finance and Accounting functions, ensuring appropriate talent, systems, processes, controls, and organizational structure support current operations and future growth.
  • Lead and develop Finance and Accounting leadership, including the Controller and VP of Financial Planning & Analysis, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and performance objectives.
  • Serve as a strategic financial advisor to executive leadership, partners, and ownership groups regarding financial performance, business strategy, growth opportunities, capital requirements, and financial risk.
  • Develop and execute the Company’s long-term financial strategy, including annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, cash flow, liquidity, capital structure, and financing strategies.
  • Monitor portfolio and community financial performance, including revenue, occupancy, labor, operating expenses, margins, cash flow, and key performance indicators; partner with Operations to identify trends and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee accounting operations, financial close, and reporting to ensure timely and accurate financial statements and compliance with GAAP, contractual requirements, and applicable financial reporting standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, financial policies, approval authorities, and risk-management practices to safeguard Company and client assets and promote financial integrity.
  • Maintain executive oversight of treasury and cash management, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, fixed assets, banking relationships, audits, tax reporting, and other financial compliance activities.
  • Manage relationships and financial reporting requirements with ownership groups, investors, banks, lenders, auditors, tax advisors, and other external financial partners.
  • Provide executive financial leadership for acquisitions, developments, management transitions, community onboarding, dispositions, and other strategic initiatives, including financial modeling, due diligence, risk assessment, integration, and return analysis.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve revenue, operating margins, expense management, cash flow, financial processes, and overall portfolio performance.
  • Provide financial leadership related to senior living revenue strategies, including occupancy, market and resident rates, discounts, ancillary revenue, and other revenue optimization opportunities.
  • Partner with People & Culture and Operations leadership regarding labor costs, staffing trends, compensation, benefits, and other workforce-related financial considerations.
  • Ensure financial systems, reporting platforms, and technology effectively support accounting, forecasting, analytics, operational decision-making, and organizational growth; identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, business cases, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership, ownership groups, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain knowledge of economic, financial, regulatory, and senior living industry trends that may affect financial performance, capital strategy, operations, or growth objectives.
  • Promote a culture of financial accountability, operational partnership, integrity, accuracy, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Travel as needed to current and prospective work locations, including overnight travel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration (MBA), or related field preferred
  • CPA designation strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of total experience in Finance and Accounting
  • Management of team members
  • Prior experience leading both Finance and Accounting functions in a multi-entity, multi-location, or shared-services environment strongly preferred
  • Experience in senior living, healthcare, home care, hospitality, multi-family, property management, or another operationally complex multi-site industry preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, treasury, internal controls, and financial analysis
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting standards, internal controls, and financial management best practices
  • Experience working with ownership groups, investors, lenders, banks, auditors, and other external financial stakeholders
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, new developments, financing transactions, due diligence, integrations, or other growth initiatives preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, data analytics, forecasting, performance metrics, and financial reporting systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage high-performing Finance and Accounting teams in a growth environment
  • Ability to effectively partner with operational and executive leaders and translate complex financial information into clear business recommendations
  • Strong executive presence with excellent written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • High degree of integrity, sound judgment, confidentiality, and professional ethics
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and execute effectively
