At TechSite, we are committed to keeping our customers' mission-critical facilities running smoothly, ensuring you can stay connected and operate with confidence. We expertly plan, design, build, test, operate, and maintain these essential spaces, aiming to maximize reliability and efficiency with speed, expertise, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

TechSite is seeking an experienced facilities professional to join our team as an Assistant Chief Engineer in a structured succession role. This position is designed to prepare the successful candidate for promotion to Chief Engineer within approximately 6–9 months through hands-on training, operational leadership, and mentorship from our current leadership team.

The ideal candidate has progressed from a technical maintenance background into facilities leadership and is ready to take the next step into a Chief Engineer position.

What You’ll Do

This is more than a traditional assistant role. The Assistant Chief Engineer will work alongside the current Chief Engineer to learn every aspect of a complex, mission-critical facility while serving as a technical leader, customer liaison, and supervisor for the on-site maintenance team. The successful candidate will balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical involvement, ensuring the reliability, safety, and continuous improvement of critical building infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Operations & Reliability

  • Plumbing systems
  • Building Automation Systems (BMS)
  • Life Safety Systems
  • Assist with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Monitor and utilize BMS, CMMS, PME, and other facility monitoring platforms.
  • Review equipment manuals, electrical diagrams, and technical documentation to support maintenance activities.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and emergency response during critical equipment failures.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise and support a team of maintenance technicians, a maintenance coordinator, and controls personnel.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to maintenance staff.
  • Assist with scheduling, workload management, and on-call rotations.
  • Help develop SOPs, MOPs, training programs, and maintenance procedures.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Customer & Operational Management

  • Serve as one of TechSite's primary points of contact with the customer, providing professional communication and operational updates.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Support maintenance planning, budgeting, reporting, compliance activities, and capital improvement projects.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditures and assist with budget management.
  • Ensure contractual obligations and service level expectations are consistently achieved.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance procedures, documentation, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Support implementation and ongoing administration of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Assist with quality initiatives and process improvements that enhance facility performance.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, company standards, and customer requirements.
  • Participate in emergency response, incident investigations, and after-action reviews.

What You’ll Bring:
