What does a chief benefits officer do?

A Chief Benefits Officer (CBO) is a senior executive responsible for designing, implementing, and managing an organization’s employee benefits programs. This includes overseeing health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other employee perks to ensure they are competitive, cost-effective, and compliant with regulations. The CBO works closely with HR, finance, and executive leadership to align benefits strategies with organizational goals and support employee satisfaction and retention.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a chief benefits officer?
