OVERVIEW

The Heart of House (HOH) Team Member is responsible for executing kitchen operations with excellence by ensuring high-quality food, proper food safety, and efficient production in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This role plays a critical part in delivering accurate, fresh, and consistent food to guests while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen. HOH Team Members are expected to uphold Chick-fil-A standards through attention to detail, urgency, and a commitment to operational excellence.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Heart of House Team Member, under the direction and supervision of the shift Manager and ultimately the Heart of House Operations Manager, is responsible for managing and supporting the following:

Food Preparation & Execution

  • Prepare and cook food items according to Chick-fil-A recipes and procedures
  • Ensure all food is prepared with accuracy, quality, and consistency
  • Maintain proper portioning, cooking times, and holding standards
  • Assemble orders with attention to presentation and accuracy
  • Maintain speed and efficiency to support overall throughput and service goals

Kitchen Operations

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and according to proper procedures
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all kitchen workstations
  • Monitor product levels and communicate needs to ensure continuous production
  • Follow all operational procedures to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen flow
  • Support execution of all menu items and new product rollouts as directed

Cleanliness & Food Safety

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment at all times
  • Adhere to Food Safety 5 standards and all food safety guidelines
  • Follow proper handwashing, glove use, and sanitation procedures
  • Ensure all equipment, surfaces, and utensils are regularly cleaned and sanitized
  • Uphold cleanliness standards in accordance with restaurant expectations and health regulations

Operational Support

  • Support overall kitchen operations by completing assigned tasks with urgency and accuracy
  • Assist with stocking, organizing, and maintaining kitchen inventory and supplies
  • Execute opening or closing duties as assigned, including cleaning, stocking, and preparing the kitchen for service
  • Properly store and rotate product according to FIFO (First In, First Out) standards
  • Maintain equipment and ensure all kitchen tools are clean and in proper working condition
  • Support team members and leadership with additional operational tasks as needed

Teamwork & Execution

  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a strong team environment
  • Follow direction from Team Leaders and Managers with consistency and urgency
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and accountability in all assigned responsibilities
  • Adapt quickly to changing business needs and assist in different positions as required
