Job description

Chevron USA - Marine is accepting online applications for the position of Steward located on one of their US Flag fleet of vessels through August 29th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (PST).

The Steward is the department head of thevesselsGalleydepartment and reports directly to the Master of the vessel.Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Mustbe professionally skilled in the preparation of meals that are nutritious and healthy.

  • Routine duties requiresupervisionof galley staff;overseeing meal service operations;supplymanagement;and ensuring the departmentcomplieswithcompany sanitary and safety standards.

  • Specifictasksincludes:ordering and inventory ofprovisionsupplies;menu planning;supervision of daily meal production;recipe development;maintainingsanitary environment;andcomplying withbudgetrequirements.

  • Must make sure that date-stamping forprovisionrotation is followed.

  • Overseesthedepartmentin sustaining allgalleyareas,mess rooms and accommodationspacesareclean andinhygienic condition.

  • Responsiblefordiscipline,welfare ofgalleypersonneland adherence to company policies including training and development of staff; providing feedback and completing performance evaluations; and record keeping of hours worked.

  • Mustbe knowledgeablein:meal planning;foodnutritionvalues; preparation techniques; use of raw ingredients;baking; andproperstorage of provisions.

  • Must havecompetent computer skillsand ability to useand adapt tocurrent ordering software.

  • Hands-on leaderin all daily functions of thegalleydepartment including meal production,cleaning andmaintenanceofgalleyareas,receivingand control ofstores.

Safety:

  • Participate in drills, emergencyproceduresand help guard the safe working practices of the vessel.

  • Activeand positiveparticipation in safety meetings.

  • Points out unsafe acts or conditions to everyone on board.

  • Stop work if unsafe conditions or practices are uncovered.

  • Able toparticipatein an Emergency Response Team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current USCG Merchant Mariner Documents with Food Handling,andBasic Safety Training andVPDSD endorsements

  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

  • Valid Passport

  • Excellent supervisory andcommunicationskills

  • ServSafeCertifiedinFood ServiceManagementwithin six months of hiring

  • Relevant experience / training in food service operations (non-fast food)

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
