Provides knowledge and expertise in fixed equipment including rotating equipment, engines, pumps, piping, valves and vessels, including inspection, troubleshooting and repair.
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Mechanical Systems Technician located in Port Arthur Lubricants Plant August 6th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Compliant with all Chevron Standards, OSHA regulations, LO/TO, PPE, CSE, Safe Work Permitting Process, Working at Heights, Lifting and Rigging, Electrical Safety, JLA's, Work Instructions and all other applicable governing laws and standards.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance activities and assessments on plant processes and equipment.
  • Safe Execution of routine field and shop repairs on rotating equipment.
  • Utilize Laser alignment equipment
  • Apply knowledge of machining, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machine procedures.
  • Reading rotating equipment drawings, understanding repair manuals, and documenting repairs.
  • Support plant Reliability, OTIF and PSS goals and expectations.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for basic troubleshooting and problem solving for various types of plant equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities on all plant assets and equipment.
  • Execute daily work requests and scheduled maintenance activities with good documentation of technical findings and work request closure.
  • Steward the spare parts inventory process and demonstrate good diligence in logging, tracking, receiving, verifying correct specifications and properly charged out to the appropriate cost center.
  • Ability to operate Powered Industrial Trucks including, (fork truck, pallet truck, telehandler, carry deck, platform lift, pod lift, utility vehicles, plant vehicles, and other similar equipment)
  • Lead in the solution of problems in the manufacturing processes, working together with area supervisors, and implementing contingency plans to keep supply continuity in case of serious failures.
  • Provide proper care, treatment and inspection of all tools and equipment used by the maintenance team.
  • Available for after hours and weekend work whether scheduled during emergency situations.
  • Environmentally accountable to assure that no hazardous products are released to the environment and all chemicals are properly stored and disposed of properly.
  • Able to maintain a neat, clean and organized work area

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience, as well as a working knowledge and understanding automated processes, rotating equipment, control systems, pumps, compressors, boilers, piping, tanks, electrical, instrumentation and related areas of focus are very important.
  • Skilled in reading and understanding of P&ID's, Process Flow Charts, Blue Prints, Mechanical Drawings, Technical Drawings, Cut Sheets, Schematics and other forms of equipment details and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, SAP and other similar business software systems.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proficient in the use of general hand tools, power tools, and maintenance type equipment.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a TWIC card.
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift, overtime as required and on-call.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An Associate's Degree in a mechanical discipline or skilled vocational / technical related trade is preferred.
  • Certified or Licensed in one of the following trades, (Welder, Pump & Valve Technician, HVAC, or other comparable industrial maintenance disciplines).
  • Experience in the operation of Boilers, Industrial Air Compressors, Jib Cranes, etc.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills.
