Job description

Fresh Mark is currently seeking a full-time Chemistry Lab Technician. The food chemistry lab technician is responsible for performing food chemistry testing on meat products.

Location: Canton, Ohio (100% on-site)

Key Accountabilities

  • Performing food chemistry testing on meat products using standard methods, including Protein% (Kjeldahl), Moisture% (Dry Oven), Fat% (Acid hydrolysis), Salt% (Mohr Method/titration)
  • Using LIMS to receive samples and record test results
  • Performing temperature checks and thermometer calibrations.
  • Conducting pH checks and water activity checks
  • Maintaining and ordering laboratory reagents and other supplies
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, calibrations and preventative maintenance
  • Proficiency testing
  • Following Good Lab Practices (GLPs) and adhering to all safety policies including general housekeeping

Job Requirements

  • Prior experience working in a chemistry or microbiological laboratory.
  • AS or BS degree in chemistry, biology or a related field is preferred.
  • Work schedule may include weekends (this position is eligible for overtime)

  • High comfort level with working independently and proficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time-management and planning skills, the ability to prioritize and demonstrate a strong attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate strong communication skills, be a team player, be motivated, and have a willingness to learn new skills and methods, with the ability to adapt to a dynamic working environment.
