AT Process Technologies (ATP) is a pioneering manufacturing company focused on the development and deployment of modular energetics production plants. Using breakthrough chemistry and automation that operates continuously and generates little to no waste, ATP is expanding energetics production to meet the munitions demands of the US and Allies safely, rapidly, and cost effectively.
Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Chemistry Laboratory Technician to keep our bench and pilot laboratories running. This person is the operational backbone of the lab: preparing and running analytical samples, monitoring experiments and continuous-flow campaigns, executing setup and teardown, and maintaining the equipment, materials, and housekeeping discipline that hazardous chemistry demands. In an energetics laboratory, the quality of sample handling, equipment cleaning, and residue control directly determines both data integrity and personnel safety. The ideal candidate has maniacal attention to detail, extensive bench experience, works methodically by nature, and has handled hazardous or reactive materials before.
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute critical lab experiments with high rigor and precision, generating reliable, actionable data for reaction and unit-operation design and scale-up.
• Prepare, run, and log analytical samples across the lab's instrument suite (NMR, HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, DSC/TGA), including sample workup, dilution, filtration, and submission.
• Manage set-up, tear-down, cleaning of experimental set ups routinely to improve experimental throughput (maximize the number of reactions per day)
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibrations, and preventative maintenance to prevent issues before they arise
• Enforce laboratory safety standards, including handling of waste streams, SDS documentation, and help coordinate reagent and equipment procurement and set-up in advance of pilot / production campaigns
Required Qualifications
B.S or M.S in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
10+ years of experimental experience in chemical laboratories
High proficiency with bench-top synthesis methods, laboratory practices
Experience installing, maintaining, and fixing analytical equipment (NMR, HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR)
Ability to work hands on in laboratory, fabrication, and plant environments
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with continuous-flow chemistry
• Background in analytical chemistry for quality control (HPLC, IC, NMR, ICP-OES/MS, DSC/TGA)
• Prior experience with energetic materials, propellants, or other regulated, toxic, or high-hazard chemistries
• Practical mechanical experience with pilot-scale equipment
Additional Requirements
Export Control Requirements
This position may require access to information or technology subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
