Alcon is looking to hire a Sr. Associate, Chemical Science, that will work in a hands-on, dynamic laboratory environment engaged in the analysis, characterization and development of novel nanoparticle, microparticle and implant formulations and related materials.
This role in on-site in Durham, NC and a typical day would include:
  • Proficiency with HPLC / UPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS as well as common detection systems (UV, RI, MS, ELSD)
  • Proficiency with physical characteristic testing methodologies, including DSC, Dynamic Rheology, FTIR
  • Strong method development and validation experience.
  • Experience with operating in a GMP regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in method, protocol and report writing.
  • Lead the design and development of novel analytical methodologies.
  • Perform and lead laboratory experimentation across a broad spectrum of responsibilities.
  • Directly responsible for superior technical execution through direct experimentation.
  • Support product R&D and manufacturing operations.
  • May be responsible for supervision of junior technical personnel.
  • Apply scientific methods and observational and critical analysis skills to lead technical efforts.
  • May lead cross-functional team members to achieve both analytical and process development project goals.

What you'll bring to Alcon:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in a scientific field with experience, M.S. degree in a scientific field with experience, or B.S. degree in a scientific field with experience.
