Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Process Engineer to join our manufacturing operations team in Brazil, Indiana. This onsite role plays a critical part in optimizing, troubleshooting, and improving chemical manufacturing processes to support safe, efficient, and high-quality plant operations.

The Process Engineer will lead continuous improvement initiatives, analyze production data, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, and collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, R&D, and EHS teams. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on operational performance through process optimization, technology implementation, and engineering innovation.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering professional with experience in chemical manufacturing or industrial processing environments who thrives in a fast-paced production setting and has a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead process improvement initiatives focused on:

    • Increasing throughput

    • Reducing waste

    • Improving yield

    • Enhancing operational efficiency

  • Analyze manufacturing processes using data-driven methods to identify:

    • Bottlenecks

    • Variability

    • Performance gaps

    • Optimization opportunities

  • Drive continuous improvement projects utilizing:

    • Lean Manufacturing

    • Six Sigma

    • Root cause analysis methodologies

  • Monitor and improve key process performance indicators (KPIs)

Manufacturing Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide technical support to daily plant operations and production teams

  • Troubleshoot process issues and equipment failures in real time

  • Conduct root cause investigations for:

    • Process deviations

    • Equipment failures

    • Quality issues

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve reliability and process stability

  • Support startup, commissioning, and optimization of manufacturing equipment and systems

Process Documentation & Engineering Support

  • Develop, maintain, and update process documentation including:

    • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

    • Process flow diagrams

    • Operating parameters and specifications

  • Assist with engineering evaluations, process modifications, and operational improvements

  • Support Management of Change (MOC) activities and documentation requirements

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • OSHA regulations

    • EPA requirements

    • Internal safety policies and procedures

  • Participate in:

    • Process Safety Management (PSM) programs

    • Hazard analyses (HAZOP)

    • Risk assessments

    • Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)

  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout plant operations

  • Identify operational risks and support mitigation strategies

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with:

    • Production teams

    • Maintenance departments

    • Quality assurance

    • R&D teams

    • Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

  • Support implementation of:

    • New products

    • Process changes

    • Equipment upgrades

    • Automation solutions

  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors on engineering and improvement projects

Data Analysis & Technology Implementation

  • Monitor process data and operational trends

  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track process performance

  • Utilize statistical analysis and process modeling techniques to improve manufacturing consistency

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to modernize plant operations and improve efficiency

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, preferably in:

    • Chemical Engineering

    • Mechanical Engineering

    • Industrial Engineering

    • Electrical Engineering

    • Civil Engineering

    • Related engineering discipline

Experience

  • Experience in:

    • Chemical manufacturing

    • Batch processing

    • Continuous processing

    • Industrial manufacturing environments

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting manufacturing or process systems preferred

  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives strongly preferred

Technical Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of:

    • Process optimization

    • Statistical analysis

    • Process modeling

    • Data visualization tools

  • Familiarity with:

    • PSM (Process Safety Management)

    • HAZOP studies
