Job description

Location: Pasadena, TX
Type: Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: DuPont Schedule, a rotating 12-hour shift pattern that includes both day and night shifts. Employees typically work:

  • Two days on, two days off, three days on
  • Two days off, two days on, three days off
  • And so on in a repeating cycle.

Pay Rate: $25/hour (with increases once transitioned to Full-Time Employee)

Job Summary
The Chemical Plant Operator supports daily production in a fast-paced industrial chemical environment by monitoring equipment, handling materials, and performing routine operational tasks. This role requires strong attention to safety, reliable execution of procedures, and the ability to perform physical work, including forklift operation and lifting up to 50 lbs. Operators help maintain smooth production flow, follow established training and safety standards, and work closely with plant leadership to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support daily plant operations to maintain safe and efficient production flow.
  • Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment; move, stage, and track materials such as drums and bulk product.
  • Perform routine physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and completing manual handling duties.
  • Follow established operating procedures, training plans, and production guidelines.
  • Conduct basic equipment checks and report abnormalities to plant leadership.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to production activities and material counts.
  • Adhere to all required safety practices, HAZWOPER training, and site-specific compliance standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain smooth workflow across shifts.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ideally 2+ years of chemical process or maintenance experience in the petrochemical industry.
  • Ability to perform basic math (e.g., counting drums, tracking materials).
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in an industrial environment.
  • Willingness to sign NDA and Non-Compete agreements.
  • Strong reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
  • Willingness to complete all required in-house training.
     

Hiring Process
Qualified candidates will move through the following steps:

  1. Interview with Agency 8 Recruiter
  2. Interview with HR
  3. Interview with Plant Manager + Mechanical Aptitude Test
  4. Ability to pass all required screenings, including a background check, drug test, MVR review, audiogram, pulmonary function test, respirator fit test, and medical clearance.
  5. Forklift experience required; must pass certification.
